Our story

The story began in 1996 with Nikky and her daughter Shabana, and a delightful little Indian restaurant, Miraaj, in Boronia.

In 2001, Miraaj relocated to Tecoma and became Saffron Cottage, quickly becoming an institution in the Dandenongs and enthralling all who visited with the beautiful atmosphere and delectable food. Due to a lease expiry at the original site, Saffron Cottage was obligated to move to its current location however in March 2021, after twenty years of service to the Hills community, Nikky and Shabana made the decision to farewell the Hills and focus on Rowville.

In April 2014, on recognising the need for authentic Indian cuisine in Rowville, Saffron on Kelletts opened its doors to this spirited community. It has now become one of the best Indian eateries in the South-East of Melbourne, known for its energetic atmosphere and superior service.

We continue to enjoy providing sustenance to hungry patrons and pride ourselves on serving quality foods and specialise in North Indian cuisine. We only use fresh vegetables and greens, top grade lean meats, and a blend of local and imported spices, and are happy to cater to people with specific dietary requirements.

We endeavour to employ team members that live locally and are proud to be a strong mother-daughter team, championing women in business.

With our friendly and impeccable service coupled with our deliciously tempting Indian cuisine, we’re confident you will be joining us for dinner, time and time again.
