Saffron on Kelletts

Our Story

The story begins over twenty years ago with Nikky and her young daughter Shabana, and a delightful little Indian restaurant, Miraaj, in Boronia.

In 2002, Miraaj relocated to Tecoma and became Saffron Cottage, quickly becoming an institution in the Dandenongs and enthralling all who visited with the beautiful atmosphere and delectable food. Due to a lease expiry at the original site, Saffron Cottage was obligated to move to its current location in 2013, but still maintains the same fantastic team, incredible ambience and most importantly, exquisite food it is renowned for.

Our tapas and wine bar, Le Miraaj, opened in 2013 three doors from Saffron Cottage to cater to those wishing for a more intimate and unique dining experience. With seating for 25 and a lush interior that is both romantic and comfortable, Le Miraaj continues to provide a place where couples or close friends and family can enjoy food and each other’s company in a serene environment.

In April 2014, on recognising the need for authentic Indian cuisine in Rowville, Saffron on Kelletts opened its doors to this spirited community. It has now become one of the best Indian eateries in the South-East of Melbourne, known for its energetic atmosphere and superior service.

Since then, we have gone on to enjoy providing sustenance to hungry patrons at all three restaurants, and will continue to do so. We pride ourselves on serving quality foods and specialise in North Indian cuisine. We only use fresh vegetables and greens, top grade lean meats, and a blend of local and imported spices, and are happy to cater to people with specific dietary requirements.

We endeavour to employ team members that live locally and are proud to be a strong mother-daughter team, championing women in business.

With our friendly and impeccable service coupled with our deliciously tempting Indian cuisine, we’re confident you will be joining us for lunch and dinner, time and time again.
